Weather wrecks local schedules

The winter storm, with its snow, wind and cold temperatures, has forced a number of postponements to the local sports schedule.
The Cortland High volleyball teams’ home matches with Port Byron, originally scheduled for Wednesday, will now take place Jan. 30, the JV match starting at 5:30 p.m.
With CHS closed for the second day in a row, tonight’s varsity basketball doubleheader, with the Purple Tiger boys and girls entertaining Chittenango, was scrubbed, with no makeup date scheduled as yet. The same holds true for the JV boys’ and girls’ basketball games at Chittenango, which were postponed for the second straight day.
The Cortland High wrestling team was slated to compete in the Central Square Dual-Meet Tournament today and Saturday, with at least today’s participation called off.
The Cortland-Homer hockey team was slated to host Oswego tonight at the J.M. McDonald Sports Complex. That game has been postponed, with no make-up date announced.
At Homer Central, the girls’ John Arcaro Memorial Indoor Track and Field Meet Thursday was postponed until January 29 at 4:30 p.m. at Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena.
With today’s school closure, the Trojans boys will not travel to Colgate University for the George Constantino Memorial Indoor Track and Field event that has now been postponed until January 29 at 4:30 p.m.
Also postponed today are the boys’ and girls’ basketball meetings with Jamesville-DeWitt. The girls were slated to host the Red Ram JV and varsity hoop teams while the Trojans boys were headed to J-D. No make-up dates have been announced.
