Squirts finish 2-1-1 to win tourney title

The Cortland Flames Squirt Travel team went 2-1-1 to win the Hazen Tournament in Ogdensburg over the weekend.
Jackson Brazo scored two goals while Jake Prunier and Trevor Jubran added one each and goalies P.J. Shager and Zach Wilhoit made seven and four saves, respectively, in the opener, a 4-0 win over Potsdam on Saturday afternoon. Trevor and Adam Jubran each scored once Saturday evening in a 3-2 loss to Ogdensburg, Wilhoit with 14 saves and Shager with 15.
Cortland got revenge on Sunday morning with a 6-1 win over Ogdensburg as Prunier and Zavien Rosato had two goals each, Jonathon Frederick a goal and an assist and Trevor Jubran one goal. Shager stopped seven shots and Wilhoit made 10 saves.
Rosato and Prunier scored once each in a 2-2 Sunday afternoon tie with Potsdam that gave Cortland the championship based on points. Wilhoit made 11 saves and Shager 17.
The Pall Trinity Micro-Heritage Realty of Central New York squad beat host Ithaca II by 5-4 and lost to visiting Center State 7-2 on Saturday before beating host New Hartford 2-1 on Sunday.
Adam Buttaccio and Nate Evans scored twice each and Elisabeth Edwards had a goal and two assists against Ithaca II, Brandon Ludwig with 12 saves in the winners’ nets. Louis Nardis and Austin Skinner had the goals and Ludwig made 18 saves in the loss to Center State. Buttaccio and Nardis scored in the win at New Hartford, Ludwig with five saves.
The Computing Center team scored two easy wins over the weekend, 6-1 over the host Midstate Stars on Saturday and 11-0 over the visiting Auburn Ice Hawks on Sunday.
Kevin Gardner scored twice to lead the way on Saturday, Dante Patriarco and Jed Brazo with a goal and an assist apiece and Nicholas Djafari and Tanner Douglass with one goal each. Goalie Kevin Taylor made 12 saves.
Taylor stopped 13 shots for the shutout against Auburn. Patriarco and Dakota Ayer scored twice each, while Douglass and Nicholas Kidder had a goal and three assists apiece, Gardner a goal and an assist and Djafari, Brazo, Abigail Villnave and Logan Griffin one goal each.
The Cort-Lanes/Grand Rental/A&W/Graph-Tex team lost 13-2 to Ithaca on Saturday, Hannah Partigianoni with both goals and goalie Adam Howser with 17 assists.
