CONTE — a daughter, Addison Michele, 7 lbs. 5 oz., Dec. 29, 2008, to Sean and Danielle Eldred Conte, 529 Hoy Road, Cortland, N.Y., in Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca, N.Y.
HALL — a son, Cayleb Bruce, 6 lbs. 15 oz., Jan. 3, 2009, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, N.Y., to Buster and Stacy Klotz Hall, 6220 Country Lane, Homer, N.Y.
SPENCE — a son, Aiden Porter, 8 lbs., Dec. 22, 2008, to Steven Spence and Lisa Whible, McGraw, N.Y.

BLANDEN — Dorcas Messenger Blanden, 77, of Homer, N.Y., died Jan. 23, 2009, in the Cortland Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer will be delayed until spring. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Sunday.
GAVRAS — George J. Gavras, 82, of 103 Clark St., Groton, N.Y., died Jan. 21, 2009, at the Groton Nursing Facility after a short illness. Graveside services with full military honors will be held in the Spring at the Groton Rural Cemetery and will be announced. There are no calling hours.

PETERSON — Joanne M. Peterson, 60, of McDonough, N.Y., died Jan. 22, 2009, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, German, at a later date. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

BERRY — Former Homer, N.Y., resident Roger W. Berry died Jan. 19, 2009, in Hanover, Pa. He suffered from respiratory failure. A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at Christ Church in Littlestown, Pa. Burial will be in the Ozark Prairie Cemetery near Mt. Vernon, Mo., at a later date.
BROWN -— Dorothy Robinson Brown, 79, of Cincinnatus, N.Y., died Jan. 21, 2009, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City. Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, at 1 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, South Otselic, at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Friday.

HARTNETT — Mary E. Hartnett, 91, of MacGregor St., Cortland, N.Y., died Jan. 20, 2009, at Cortland Regional Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held noon Friday at St. Mary’s Church, Cortland. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. A prayer service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
KNAPP -— Grace (Betty) W. Knapp, 90, of Groton, N.Y., died Dec. 16, 2008, in Vestal. An Eastern Star service and a time for rememberance will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Groton Center Village Court Community Room at 200 W. South St., Groton. Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams St., Groton, has care of arrangements.
RANDOLPH — Roger Randolph, 75, died Jan. 19, 2009. He was a 45-year resident of Tampa, Fla., where he and his wife, JoAnn, raised their seven children. The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Avenue, Tampa, Fla. Private interment later. Friends may call two hours prior to the service.

 

ALLEN — Frances L. Allen, 84, of Main Street, Locke, N.Y., died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams Street, Groton.

TORREY — Garry L. Torrey, 62, of Cincinnatus, N.Y., died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa.. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A private graveside service with military honors will be held at the Westview Cemetery, German, N.Y. at a later date and time. Arrangements have been entrusted to the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus.
VANBENSCHOTEN — Irene A. VanBenSchoten, 87, of North Parkway, Groton, died Jan. 17, 2009 at the Groton Nursing facility after a short illness. Services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 William St., Groton. The family will receive friends 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the services. Spring interment will be in the Groton Rural Cemetery.
