No-hitter twirled by TC3’s Snyder

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Ashley Snyder threw a no-hitter Wednesday as the Tompkins Cortland Community College softball team beat Prairie State College from Illinois 10-0 in five innings to complete a doubleheader sweep.
The Panthers captured the first game 6-5.
Snyder had 10 strikeouts in five innings en route to her gem. Stephanie Parsons cracked two doubles for the Panthers, while Mackenzie Sherlock and Katie Ducharme both homered and Samijo Scheer had a triple and a stolen base.
TC3 trailed 5-1 in the third inning of the opener before rallying to win. Parsons and Chelsea Houtenbrink had two hits each — Houtenbrink, Scheer and Brooke Radley all with doubles for the Panthers. Sherlock was the winning pitcher in relief.
On Tuesday, TC3 was swept in a doubleheader by Alabama’s Calhoun CC 9-3 and 12-7. Scheer hit two home runs and drove in all three runs for the Panthers in the first game, while Jennifer Boynton also had two hits.
The Panthers collected 14 hits in the nightcap in a losing cause. Parsons went 4-for-4 and also paced the defense from her second base position, while Sherlock and Snyder both doubled.
TC3, now 3-4, was to wind up its Spring Break trip tonight against Southern Maine CC at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
