Pitcher Maggie Reagan silenced visiting Fowler’s bats and Megan Turco led the offense Wednesday as the Cortland High softball team scored its first victory of the season, 11-3.
Reagan fired a one-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks, Fowler taking advantage of four hit batters and four Purple Tiger errors to score its runs at Meldrim Field.
Turco had three hits, including a two-run double to key a four-run fourth that gave Cortland control of the game for good. She also had a two-run single in the first and wound up with four RBIs.
After the hosts took the early lead, Fowler tied the score with two runs in the third on two hit batters and two consecutive errors.
Cortland (1-2 league and overall) scored once in the third and Fowler answered in the fourth, making it 3-3 before the winners’ decisive outburst in the bottom of the fourth. A walk to Aubrey VanGorder and consecutive hits by Lauren Shirley, Andrea Turcsik, Turco (the two-run double) and Mel DelRosario accounted for the four runs.
Cortland also scored twice each in the fifth and sixth innings (the latter on a two-run single by Alena Turturro) for the final margin. Vickie Davila’s infield single was the only hit for the Falcons (0-6 league and overall).

CORTLAND JVs won 7-6 as Hannah Owens threw a four-hitter while Monica Mo (triple), Allison Prunier and Alyssa Cafararo all went 2-for-3. A. Hernandez went 2-for-2 and Jenna Sweeting was 2-for-3 for Fowler.
