Extra happy Red Dragon crew

Brett Wright was 3-for-4 with three doubles as Red Dragon needed three runs in the top of the ninth inning to finally subdue Red Jug Pub 6-3 in Cortland Men’s Slow Pitch League American Division softball action Tuesday.
In other American Division games, first place Grand Rental Station/Gable Inn beat Beer Goggles 14-5, Hooley’s downed Stone Lounge/Willcox Tires 18-5 and Central City Bar & Grill pounded Gator’s Tavern 20-8.
In National Division play, Ivan’s remained undefeated with a 12-11 win over King Sub in eight innings, NAPA defeated Hess 13-2, Tavern B tripped CCRP 17-12 and Outdoor Solutions ousted Meldrim Paint 13-10.
Red Dragon 6, Red Jug Pub 3, 9 inns.: In a defensive battle, Red Jug Pub grabbed a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Red Dragon fought back with one run in the third and scored the tying run in the fifth. The Dragonmen broke the tie on hits Chris Beattie, Dick Arnold and T.J. French. Mike Greco and Beattie swung 2-for-4 bats for the winners.
Grand Rental/Gable Inn 14, Beer Googles 5: Brian Taylor went 5-for-5 while Seth Montgomery was 3-for 5 with three doubles to power the Grand Rental Station/Gable Inn offense. Tom Avery and Jason Hogan each went 2-for-3. Allen Griffin was 2-for-3 with a double to aid the Beer Goggles attack.
Hooley’s 18, Stone Lounge/Willcox Tires 5: Derek Barrett was 5-for-5 with a double while Eric Miller swung a 4-for-5 bat for the winners. S. Young, Jr. led Stone Lounge/Willcox by going 3-for-4 with Chris Beebe belting a home run.
Central City Bar & Grill 20, Gator’s 8: Dennis Hopkins was 4-for-5 with two triples that powered the high-scoring Central City squad. Jeff Carr and Adam Levine (double) added 3-for-4 swings with Bill Francis going 3-for-5. M. Lonie and S. Horner each went 2-for-3 for Gator’s.
Ivan’s 12, King Sub 11, 8 inns.: Art Buchanan, Jr. was 3-for-4 with a double and scored the winning run in the top of the eighth inning as Ivan’s improved to 10-0. T. Marshall and K. Peck pitched in with 3-for-4 efforts with J. Delee going 2-for-3. Tony Bates led King Sub with a double and home run during his 3-for-4 night. B. Sturdevant added a 3-for-4 effort while B. Gable was 2-for-3.
NAPA 13, Hess 2:Mike Lederman and John Canzano hits doubles as NAPA sealed the victory with eight runs in the top of the seventh inning. Nick Hoffmann and Cody Clayton belted home runs for Hess.
Tavern B 17, CCRP 12: Paul Yarnell was 3-for-4 with three doubles to power the Tavern attack. Jarrod Newcomb also delivered a 3-for-4 effort for the winners. Austin and Grant each recorded three hits for CCRP.
Outdoor Solutions 13, Meldrim Paint 10: Billy Epp homered and Dave Forehand hit a triple has Outdoor Solutions built a 13-5 lead through six innings. Mike Myers had a home run for Meldrim Paint, whose five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning made things interesting.
