Paddy’s Pub pulls out win in final at bat

Paddy’s Pub scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to pull out an 8-6 softball win over Hairy Tony’s in the Cortland Women’s Slowpitch League’s C Division on Wednesday.
That was not the only last-inning victory as Palm Gardens/Fine Designs outscored Tioga Hardwoods/Cutia’s in a wild seventh inning for a narrow 14-13 triumph in the first game of their D Division twin bill. Tioga/Cutia’s came back to take the second contest 5-2.
In other C Division contests, Franklin Rock/Central City downed Brix 7-3 and Gator’s/Cortland Self-Storage took a doubleheader from Red Jug Pub 15-0 and 16-4.
In other D Division action, One Cent Saloon edged Homer Logging/NAPA 8-6 in the first game of a doubleheader with Homer Logging claiming the second game 6-1. Deli Downtown took two games from Night Owls by the scores of 8-4 and 12-0.
The Tavern/Home-Cort Advantage easy defeated Ivan’s/ Dave’s Auto 13-1 and Easy Street/Stupid Choppers outslugged Dark Horse 17-15.
C DIVISION
Paddy’s Pub 8, Hairy Tony’s 6: After tying the tightly contested game at 6-6 with one run in the top of the sixth inning, Paddy’s Pub scored the winning runs in the seventh.
Jonna Johnson led Paddy’s by going 3-for-4. Lynn Baker, Deb Contri and Maureen Roberts each hit one double for the winners. Anna Dovi went 3-for-4 for Hairy Tony’s Jackie Mack ripped a triple.
Franklin/Central City 7, Brix 3: Franklin/Central broke a 2-2 tie with five runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Janet Wiese went 3-for-3 for Franklin Rock/Central City. McKenna Riley smacked a double for the winners. Stacey Caldwell hit a triple for Brix.
Gator’s/Self Storage 15, Red Jug Pub 0: Lindsay Richards went 3-for-3 with a double to lead Gator’s in game one. Monica Everdyke and Maggie Brown chipped in with 3-for-4 efforts.
Gator’s/Self Storage 16, Red Jug Pub 4: Maggie Brown was 3-for-3 with a home run while Lindsay Richards also went 3-for-3 as Gator’s completed the doubleheader sweep. Monica Everdyke added a 3-for-4 effort with a double.
Shannon Allen was 2-for-3 for Red Jug Pub.
D DIVISION
One Cent 8, Homer Logging/NAPA 6: One Cent saw its 6-0 lead shrink to 6-5 before scoring twice in the top of the fifth to seal the win.
Danielle Swarm led the One Cent attack by going 3-for-4 with a double and triple. Danielle Beebe added a 3-for-4 effort with a two-run double and three total RBIs while Jody Maroney went 3-for-3 as did K.T. Apley.
Jenni Dewitt was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Homer/NAPA. Stacie Young, Abby Homer and Debbie Preston each went 2-for-3.
Homer Logging/NAPA 6, One Cent 1: Abby Homer was a perfect 3-for-3 as Homer/NAPA earned a split in the doubleheader. Debbie Preston went 2-for-2 and Lindsey Fiore added a 3-for-4 bat.
K.T. Apley went 3-for-3 with an RBI for One Cent. Jody Maroney (double, 2 RBIs), Kelly Pittsley, Sam Scott, Dusty Dirig, April Byers and Tiffany Griffin each recorded two hits the One Cent.
Deli Downtown 8-12, Night Owls 4-0: Amanda Edwards hit a triple during the doubleheader.
Palm Gardens/Fine Designs 14, Tioga Hardwoods/Cutia’s 13: For every run Palm Gardens scored in the top of the first three innings, Tioga/Cutia’s matched in the bottom of the same inning until the fifth inning. Palm Gardens plated six in the top of the fifth, but Tioga/Cutia’s scored just five times.
Tara Cooper went 2-for-3 with a double and triple for Palm Gardens. Stacey Billings hits a double for Tioga/Cutia’s.
Tioga Hardwoods/Cutia’s 5, Palm Gardens/Fine Designs 2: Tioga/Cutia’s scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead in the second game of the twinbill. Tara Wilhart hit a double for Palm Gardens.
E DIVISION
The Tavern/Hom-Cort 13, Ivan’s/Dave’s Auto 1: Pam Wenck struck out eight Ivan’s batters while Rebecca Schindler smacked a double for the winners.
Easy Street/Choppers 17, Dark Horse 15: Ashley Lincoln and Heather Neadom hit doubles for Easy Street/Stupid Choppers during the win. Kelli Griswold roped a double for Dark Horse.
