Red Jug Pub tightens B Division race with win

Red Jug Pub beat Ink’d 20-12 Thursday night to move to within a half-game of its victims at the top of the Cortland Men’s Slowpitch B Division.
In other B Division games Woody’s Tavern shaded Brix 17-16 and Gator’s Tavern rolled over Outdoor Solutions 32-11. In the A Division, GSG Vincent/St. Charles Hotel shaded Bow-Jen Archery 16-15 while Gable Inn was a 22-6 five-inning mercy rule winner over Central City Bar & Grill and Red Dragon outscored Beer Goggles 23-13.
A pair of C Division makeup games saw Stone Lounge beat NAPA 20-6 for its first win of the season while Seventy Seven Club was a 22-4 winner over NAPA in five innings.
Red Jug Pub 20, Ink’d 12: Kevin Moore went 5-for-5 with a triple while Mike Reeners (four doubles), Barry Shaver (double, home run) and winning pitcher Charles Benjamin all went 4-for-5 for Red Jug Pub, Mike Browngardt with a 3-for-5 night that included a pair of doubles. Scott Knight (double), and Tony Keegan went 3-for-4 and Stacey Bischoff was 2-for-3 for Ink’d.
Woody’s Tavern 17, Brix 16: The winners scored twice in the bottom of the sixth and final inning for the win. Matt Hartwell led the way to victory, going 4-for-4 with a double and triple while winning pitcher Chris Kabanuk was 3-for-3. Dan Maricle and A. Smith both went 3-for-4 for Brix.
Gator’s Tavern 32, Outdoor Solutions 11: Ian Spafford drove in nine runs, going 4-for-5 with three homers, and Pete Whitmore was 4-for-5 with a double, triple and three RBIs as Gator’s romped. Calvin Taylor went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Dave Hubbard was 2-for-2 with a triple for the winners. Chris Maxfield went 2-for-2 with a triple and Eric Doane was 2-for-3 for Outdoor Solutions.
GSG Vincent/St. Charles Hotel 16, Bow-Jen Archery 15: Brian Keefer went 4-for-5 with a double and four runs and Jason Reynolds went 3-for-4 and scored twice for the winners, who pushed across the decisive run in the bottom of the seventh. Billy Kerry went 3-for-5 with two triples and three runs, while Nick Baker (two homers) and Jim Hogan (triple, two runs) both went 2-for-4.
Codi Clayton and Eugene Forehand both went 4-for-5 with three runs each for Bow-Jen, while Steve Furlong (double, two runs) and Waylon DeGraw (two runs) both went 2-for-4.
Gable Inn 22, Central City Bar & Grill 6: Casey Crandall went 4-for-4 and hit for the cycle to lead Gable Inn, while Dirt DeGraw (double) was 3-for-3 and Chad Worsell (two doubles), Jason Lansing (four RBIs) and Seth Montgomery all went 3-for-4. Dennis Hopkins (triple), Jeff Carr (triple) and Josh Bogdan all went 2-for-3 for Central City.
Red Dragon 23, Beer Goggles 13: Derek Allen (two doubles, four RBIs, three runs), Steve Wright (double, three RBIs, four runs) and Ed Kelley (three runs) all went 4-for-5 for Red Dragon, while Dave Lemon (double, two triples) was 3-for-4 and Jim Beattie (double, two RBIs, three runs) 3 for-5. Lucas Mauzy (triple), Ryan McAnulty (three RBIs) and Bob McAnulty all went 3-for-3 for Beer Goggles, while Tyler Lanning (homer, three RBIs, three runs) and Mitch Gleason (double) both went 3-for-4.
Stone Lounge 20, NAPA 6: Matt Bush led the 32-hit Stone Lounge attack by going 4-for-4 with a home run. Heath Belue (double), Eric Bonawitz (double) and David Kreick (double) each chipped in with 3-for-4 efforts as the Lounge notched its first win of the season.
Steve Phillips (double) and Elliot Mitro each went 2-for-3 for NAPA.
Seventy Seven Club 22, NAPA 4: The 77 Club extended its winning streak to six games in a rout of NAPA. Brandon Frost (double) and Jeff Wolff (2 triples) each swung 3-for-4 bats in the winning cause while Dustan DiIorio (double, home run) was a perfect 3-for-3. Mike Eves (2 doubles), Nick Mish (double, home run), Josh Hempstead (double), Josh Wright and Lonnie Jenkins helped out with two hits each.
Steve Phillips was 1-for-2 with a double to pace the NAPA three-hit attack.
