Locals in pool play title hunt

The Homer and Crown City Major Division All-Star Little League baseball teams both complete pool play in the District 8 Tournament this evening with chances to win their pools and advance to the finals.
Homer hosts East Syracuse-Minoa at Griggs Field in a 6 p.m. start, both teams 2-0 in the Red Pool. Homer shaded Geddes 7-6 on Saturday and was an 11-0 winner over Seneca River South on Sunday. Cortland’s Crown City squad was 1-1 in the Orange Pool going into this evening’s game with host Fayetteville-Manlius at Brooklea Field, also at 6 p.m. Crown City beat South Side American 7-3 on Saturday and was edged by Oswego 4-3 on Sunday.
Homer hosts the District 8 finals July 6, 7 and 9.
l 9-10 All-Stars: Crown City hosted the Red Pool and finished third, losing to champion Seneca River North 30-0 on Saturday after falling to ES-M 7-5 on Thursday. Homer took second in the Gold Pool at Syracuse China Fields, losing 11-3 to champion Jamesville-DeWitt on Friday and beating Lyncourt-LeMoyne 14-4 on Saturday.
Duerr Park in Liverpool is the site of the District 8 finals July 2,3 and 5.
— 10-11 All-Stars: The Crown City and Homer teams will both be involved in pool play July 12-14. Crown City is in the White Pool along with host and defending state champion F-M, Valley and Seneca River North. Homer is in the Orange Pool with host North Syracuse (Skyway Park Fields), Baldwinsville and ES-M.
