More honors for Homer duo

Homer’s Stephanie Hartquist shows the batting form that helped earn her Class A All-State first-team honors this season.
Helping their team reach the Section 3 Class A championship game earned two Homer Central players more post-season honors.
Trojan senior shortstop Stephanie Hartquist earned New York State Class A First-Team honors while sophomore catcher Gabby Luety was a All-State Second Team selection.
Hartquist hit .620 (49x79) with 14 doubles, six triples, eight home runs, 32 RBIs, 39 runs scored and 7-for-7 in stolen bases for the 21-3 OHSL Freedom Division champions.
Luety hit .541 (40x74) with 10 doubles, seven triples, seven home runs, 43 RBIs, 30 runs scored and a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases.
Brianna Allen, senior pitcher from Rochester Aquinas in Section 5 was the NYS Player of the Year and her coach, Mike Grosodonia, was the Coach of the Year.
Rounding out the NYS First-Team were senior centerfielder Brittni Alexander (Tappan Zee); junior catcher-first base Krystina Poloni (Pearl River); senior pitcher Marissa Carpenter (South Glens Falls); junior pitcher Nicole Osovski (Maine-Endwell from Section 4); senior pitcher Erin Nargi (Victor); senior infielder Lauren Falzone (Williamsville South); senior pitcher Jesse Stavola (Easthampton) and junior third baseman Nicole Fierro (Easthampton).
Among those joining Luety on the second team was Johnson City senior third baseman Morgan Edmondson from Section 4.
Section 3 and 4 players named were third-team senior pitcher-third baseman Haley Butler (New Hartford) and sophomore first baseman Kaitlyn Harris (Maine-Endwell); fourth team junior pitcher Beth Kann (Oneida); senior centerfielder Jennifer Rossi (Phoenix); and senior pitcher Kolleene Simmons (Corning West); plus fifth team senior catcher Leah Porter (Jamesville-DeWitt).
