Cortland All-Stars eliminated
CICERO — The Crown City Little League U12 Major All-Star baseball squad was eliminated from the District 8 Tournament Friday night in a loss to North Syracuse at Central Park in Cicero.
The contest, for which no details were reported, was the second between the teams in three days. North Syracuse won the Blue Pool with an 11-7 win over Cortland’s Crown City club on Wednesday night in the qualifying round, both teams finishing 2-1 with the head-to-head result the determining factor.
North Syracuse entered the 10-team championship round at Central Park seeded eighth, with Crown City ninth, and was to face top-seeded Liverpool at 11 a.m. today in the quarterfinals. Friday’s other game, between seventh-seeded Seneca River North and No. 10 Geddes, was suspended Friday night and was to resume this morning, the winner to face second-seeded host Cicero at 2 p.m.
The other quarterfinal games had No. 4 Eastwood and No. 5 Fayetteville-Manlius meeting at 11 a.m. and Baldwinsville, the third seed, facing No. 6 Jamesville-DeWitt at 2 p.m.
Both semifinals are scheduled to take place Sunday at noon, with the championship game set for Monday at 6 p.m.
