Gator's I captures clash for 1st place

In a clash of top softball contenders in the Cortland Men’s Over 35 Slowpitch League, Gator’s I used a six-run outburst in the fifth inning to help pull away for an 11-3 win over Red Dragon on Sunday.
A three-run triple by John Fusaro was the big blow in that fifth frame for Gator’s I, who pounded out 17 hits in the first place showdown. Brian Hotchkiss was 3-for-4 with a double to lead the winners, while Fusaro added a double to a 2-for-4 plate performance.
Sean Babcock led Red Dragon with a 3-for-3 bat including a triple among his side’s 13 hits.
Xpress/Gator’s Clinches 1st
Completing a Saturday softball sweep with an extra-inning victory over second place ABL, the’s squad clinched the regular season Jim Partigianoni Coed Slowpitch League title with two games remaining.
After getting past Funflicks 14-8,’s pulled out a 9-8 victory over ABL in eight innings to remain unbeaten at 12-0 and claim the regular season crown.
Xpress/Gator’s 14, Funflicks 8: Codi Clayton drove in four runs and Jason Hogan had three RBIs in the win over Funflicks, both going 4-for-4. Winning pitcher Walker Reynolds was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Heidi Sue Shafer (2x2) and Katrina Fox (3x4) contributed to a 21-hit offensive.
Andrew Pierce homered twice and drove in five runs for Funflicks.
Xpress/Gator’s 9, ABL 8: Two runs in the top of the eighth proved to be the winning’s margin in the second outing, while ABL left two runners aboard after getting one run back in the bottom of that same extra frame.
Dave Pitts (4x4) and Clayton (3x3) drove in three runs apiece, while Fox and Tim Wright were both 2-for-3.
