McGraw snares season’s first win

McGraw rallied from a 10-2 deficit after three innings with seven runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth Thursday evening and went on to beat host Tully for its first win in nine Cortland County Babe Ruth League games this baseball season.
In other league games, North Division leader Homer Austin beat Cortland Eagles 14-7, Homer White stopped Homer Blue 6-4, Dryden TTC stayed unbeaten atop the Southern Division with 4-0 win over Fabius, and Cortland Moose outscored Cortland Alliance Bank 14-12.
McGraw 16, Tully 13: Chris Torres went 4-for-5 with two doubles and scored three runs to lead McGraw, while Justin Morgan and Mark Hitt scored three runs apiece and Ben Hammond made a running catch of a fly ball in the outfield to end the game. Greg Donald went 3-for-5 and Brian Barts 2-for-5 for Tully, each scoring three runs.
Homer Austin 14, Cortland Eagles 7: The winner gave up four runs in the top of the first but scored seven times in the bottom of the frame and never looked back. Ethan Forster (triple) and Thomas Austin both went 2-for-2, while Lucas Biondi was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Jorge Martinez had two RBIs on a pair of sacrifice flies. Alex Boyland, Noah Bishop and Antonio Bustamante all had hits for the Eagles.
Homer White 6, Homer Blue 4: White led 6-1 and held off a Blue rally in the sixth for the final margin of victory. Starter and winner Kevin McNeil, Drew Gallagher and Taylor Withiam (save) combined to limit Blue to five hits, the offense led by Zandrew Zimmerman’s 2-for-3 performance, including a double, and Tyler Signor’s triple. Signor also anchored the winners’ defense with his play at third base.
Brent Quinlan and Zephan Kash limited Homer White to five hits. Chick Freeman had a double to pace the Blue offense.
Dryden TTC 4, Fabius 0: The TTC pitchers, including starter and winner Mike Hattery (one hit and six strikeouts in five innings) limited Fabius to two hits in the contest. Tim Gray went 2-for-3 for the winners and Patrick Perkins had an RBI double, while David Scutt singled home a run.
Cortland Moose 14, Cortland Alliance Bank 12: Moose scored twice in each of the first three innings and was never headed as Parker Williamson led the offense, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Nick Crosby and Doug Adsit had two RBIs each and Cory Broyles scored three runs for the winners. Alliance's Y.
