Meldrim Paint holds off Brix

Meldrim Paint built a big lead but still needed a run in the top of the seventh to beat a tenacious Brix Puberia squad 16-15 Tuesday night in Cortland Men’s Slowpitch League C Division softball action.
In other C Division games, King Sub blanked Stone Lounge 9-0 and Outdoor Solutions rolled past Woody’s C 19-9. In the A Division, Red Dragon was a 7-4 winner over Central City Bar 7 Grill and Woody’s A was a 12-6 winner over Beer Goggles.
Meldrim Paint 16, Brix Puberia 15: Meldrim Paint led 13-5 after three innings before Brix came back to tie the game, scoring seven runs in the fifth and twice in the sixth to cap the rally before the winners finally prevailed. Kyle Rogers went 4-for-4 with a double and Jeremy Hutchings was 4-for-5 for Meldrim, while Mike Myers (double, home run), Jason Schlenker (homer), Brian Morton (triple) and Chris Carpenter all went 3-for-5.
Having 3-for-4 nights for Brix were Tigh Barber (triple), Justin Baker (double), Jeremy Baker (double), and Joel Rivers, with Jamie Sutton going 3-for-5.
King Sub 9, Stone Lounge 0: Mitch Bush threw a six-hit shutout for King Sub, which was led offensively by a 3-for-3 night by Tony Bates, including a double. Bush and Bob Gable, meanwhile, both went 2-for-3.
Outdoor Solutions 19, Woody’s C 9: First-place Outdoor Solutions broke open a close game with eight runs in the top of the seventh, which it started with an 11-8 lead. Garrett Stage went 4-for-5 and hit for the cycle, driving in two runs, while Brian Clifford also went 4-for-5 and Tim Rogers was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Brandon Frost homered for Woody’s.
Red Dragon 7, Central City Bar & Grill 4: Red Dragon got all the runs it needed in a five-run first inning, Dan Edwards with a three-run triple and Chris Poli driving in a pair of runs. Chad Poli and Steve Wright both went 3-for-4 for the winners, while Edwards was 2-for-3 with the triple and four RBIs, Dick Arnold 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, Chris Poli had three RBIs in all and Mike Greco scored twice. Josh Bogdan (double) and Dennis Hopkins both went 2-for-3 for Central City, while T.J. Griffin was 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Woody’s A 12, Beer Goggles 6: David Pitts and Chick Pitts both went 4-for-4, Bob Craig went 3-for-4 and Dave Seamans homered for Woody’s A, which collected 22 hits in the game. Eric Miller went 2-for-4 with two doubles for Beer Goggles.
Home Runs Power Davelle

DRYDEN — Peter Whitmore, Josh Piger and Mark Whitmore each slammed home runs as Davelle defeated Preston Truckers 9-6 in the Dryden Coed Slowpitch League on Tuesday night.
Dryden Lumber pounded the McLean Commandos 22-5, breaking open a tight softball session with 14 runs in the top of the third inning. Seven different players hit doubles for Dryden Lumber, including Shane DeGaetano (4-for-4), who was a triple away from hitting for the cycle. Winning pitcher Margaret DeGaetano helped her own cause going 3-for-4 with a double.
