Late comeback for 'B' leaders

Tony Keegan’s sacrifice fly scored Jeff Zornow and capped a game-winning three run rally by Bow-Jen/Post 489 in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday night as the Cortland Men’s Slowpitch League B Division softball leaders shaded NAPA 5-4.
Gator’s Tavern trounced Red Jug Pub 20-9 in another B Division contest. In the C Division, second-place King Sub beat front-running Outdoor Solutions 11-9 while Stone Lounge was a 14-10 winner over Brix Puberia and Meldrim Paint outscored Woody’s C 12-8.
B DIVISION
Bow-Jen/Post 489 5, NAPA 4: Zornow had lashed a two-run double to right to tie the score before, with the bases loaded, Keegan’s sacrifice fly sent Zornow home with the game-winner. Matt DeGraw went 2-for-2 for the winners, while John Pensyl (double), Steve Furlong (double in the seventh) and Waylon DeGraw all went 2-for-3. Brian Dyer went 2-for-3 for NAPA.
Gator’s Tavern 20, Red Jug Pub 9: Dave Hubbard went 4-for-5, hitting for the cycle, and drove in seven runs to lead the way for Gator’s. Tom Cullip went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and Pete Whitmore also homered for Gator’s, while Trevor Norman went 3-for-4 for Red Jug Pub.
C DIVISION
King Sub 11, Outdoor Solutions 9: Greg Carrier (two doubles, three RBIs), Miguel Maldonado (double, three RBIs), Andy Warholic (RBI) and Chuck Wilbur (RBI) all went 3-for-4 for King Sub, which led 11-6 heading into the bottom of the seventh and held off a late Outdoor Solutions rally. Chris Maxfield (double, RBI) and Peter Delacuadra both went 3-for-4 for Outdoor Solutions, while Bob McAnulty was 2-for-3 and Gregg Eaton 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBIs.
Stone Lounge 14, Brix Puberia 10: Joey Marks (two doubles), Rich Price (triple) and Rob Benson all went 3-for-4 to pace the Stone Lounge offense, Chris Beebe with a double and a homer. Dan Maricle went 3-for-4 with a double and Cody Peak was 2-for-3 for Brix Puberia.
Meldrim Paint 12, Woody’s C 8: The winners trailed 7-5 after four innings but erupted for five runs in the top of the fifth to take control. Chris Carpenter went 4-for-4 with a double for Meldrim Paint, while Dustan DiIorio and Josh Wright both doubled for Woody’s C.
