Big inning helps Hooley’s White into tie at top

A big seven-run scoring burst in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted Hooley’s White into a first-place tie with NAPA in the Cortland Men’s Slowpitch Softball League B Division race as Hooley’s downed NAPA 14-12. Both teams have matching 15-5 records.
In other B Division action, Friends downed Hooley’s Green 14-4, gator’s Tavern edged Crown Liquor 5-4 and Outdoor Solutions/Hess pounded St. Charles Hotel B 20-4.
In C Division play, King Sub doubled up Friends C 10-5, K&H Motorsports swept Woodman’s Pub 10-4, 11-5 in a doubleheader and CCRP defeated Marietta 24-7.
Hooley’s White 14, NAPA 12: NAPA took a 4-3 lead in the top of the rhird inning and built an 11-4 cushion before Hooley’s mounted its comeback. After scoring three times in the bottom of the fifth, Hooley’s plated seven runs in the sixth on eight straight hits to take a 14-11 lead.
Daron Foster went 4-for-4 with three runs scored to pace Hooley’s. Joe Evangilista and Chad Poli (2 RBIs) each ripped three hits and scored twice for the winners while Jeremy Hutchings was 2-for-3 and Brian McCall went 2-for-4 with a double and five RBIs.
Greg Zacek was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead NAPA. Jordan Caldwell added a 2-for-4 bat with a triple and two runs scored.
Friends B 14, Hooley’s Green 4: In addition to pounding out 21 hits, Friends turned three double plays to improve to 11-10. Dave Seamans and Tim Robison each went 3-for-3 to lead the Friends attack while Kevin Willcox, Chris Willcox and Mike Russell each went 2-for-3.
Ryan Pennello and Tyler Lanning each went 2-for-3 with one double for Hooley’s Green (10-9).
Gator’s Tavern 5, Crown Liquor 4: Andy Ayers two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Gator’s (12-8) to the one-run victory. Shawn Jenney went 3-for-3 for Gator’s with Matt Lowie and Mark Kanellis each going 2-for-3.
Cubby Burk paced Crown Liquor (7-12) by going 2-for-3 with a double.
Outdoor Solutions/Hess 20, St. Charles Hotel B 4: Dave Forehand was 4-for-4 with a  double and home run while Nate Forehand went 4-for-4 with one double as Outdoor Solutions/Hess (10-10) cruised to an easy win thanks to a 12-run first inning. Chris Maxfield notched a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate while Matt DeGraw went 3-for-4.
Alex Langdon and Ryan Hirschfield each sung 2-for-2 bats for St. Charles (4-13).
King Sub 10, Friend C 5: King Sub scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and enjoyed a 10-2 advantage through three innings to maintain its hold on first place with a 13-3 record. Dan Warner led the offensive with his 4-for-4 effort while Bob Gable went 3-for-3. Bob Stewart added a double and three RBIs.
Andy Smith (double) and Leon Burk were each 3-for-3 for Friends (10-8) with Nate Cobb going 3-for-4.
K&H Motorsports 10-11, Woodman’s Pub 4-5: In the first game K&H broke open a 2-1 game with eight runs in the top of the fifth inning. Mike Myers was 3-for-3 while Chris Carpenter and Daryl Marks added 3-for-4 bats.
Randy Phillips was 2-for 3 for Woodman’s and Art Buchanan, Jr. added a home run.
In the second game, K&H (10-7) held a 5-3 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning before plating five additional runs.Andrew Foster  was 3-for-3 with a double. Mike Myers (triple), Kyle Rogers (double) and Brian Bosch each chipped in with 2-for-3 efforts.
Joe Delee went 3-for-3 for Woodsman’s (9-8).
CCRP 18, Marietta 3, 5 innings: CCRP (9-10) overcame a 3-2 deficit with 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and ended the game with four more runs in the fifth. Rob Benson paced the wining attack by going 4-for-4 with two triples. Nick Hoffman (double), Rob Austin, Fred St. John and D. Morris each added 3-for-4 swings.
Kevin O’Brien was 2-for-3 for Marietta (1-15).
