Ink’d survives rally in triumph

After watching Study Hall plate four runs in the top of the seventh inning, Ink’d scored once in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull out a 13-12 extra innings triumph in Cortland Men’s Slowpitch Softball League A Division action Tuesday.
Also in the A Division, Grand Rental Station picked up a forfeit victory over American Legion Post 489.
In B Division play, O’Connor and Kruman/Outdoor Solutions routed The Tavern 18-1 in six innings while Red Dragon posted a 17-5 win over Easy Street.
Ink’d 13, Study Hall 12, 8 innings: Ink’d had great offensive balance in its 22-hit attack. Tyler Vandemark, Erik McGowan, Jeremy Sutton, Tim Robison and Scott Knight each went 3-for-4. Sutton had a double and triple while Robison and Knight also tripled. Vandemark and McGowan added one double each. Dan Briggs went 2-for-4 with a home run for the winners.
Aaron Galutz (3 doubles) and L. Stevens each swung 4-for-4 bats for Study Hall. Steve Young and Mike Amo went 3-for-4 with a double as Chris Beebe hit a triple for his only hit in four tries for The Hall.
O’Connor/Outdoors 18, The Tavern 1, 6 innings: O’Connor & Kruman/Outdoor Solutions had five players deliver 3-for-4 performances in this shortened contest. Chad Parker had three home runs during his near perfect night. Tyler Lanning smacked a double and home run as did Nick Baker during their three-hit efforts. Mitch Gleason and Matt Compton (double) were the other three-hitters.
Brian Fox was 2-for-2 for The Tavern. Jarrod Newcomb pitched in with a 2-for-3 bat.
Red Dragon 17, Easy Street 5: Leading 4-3, Steve Wright (2-for-4) belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the second inning as the Dragonmen scored 11 unanswered runs over the next four innings. Ed Kelly (2-for-4) drove in two runs with a double in the fourth and Dave Lemou (2-for-3) plated three more runs in the same inning with his home run. Chris Beattie (3-for-4), Mike Milligan (2-for-4) and Clayton Skinner turned a 6-3-5 double play to end the game for Red Dragon.
Elliot Mitro led the Easy Street attack by going 3-for-3 with a double. Bernie Mertz added a 2-for-3 effort and Mike eves ripped a triple for his lone hit during a four at-bat night.
