Keefer explodes for Dark Horse/Hairy Tony’s

Brian Keefer put a week’s worth of hitting into one game during Cortland Men’s Slowpitch Softball League A Division action Friday night. Keefer went 6-for-6 as he hit for the cycle with three singles, a double, a triple, a home run and 11 RBIs during a 15-11 Dark Horse/ Hairy Tony’s victory over St. Charles Hotel A.
In other A games, Grand Rental Station downed Red Jug Pub 10-4 and Red Dragon smoked Central City Bar & Grill 18-2 in five innings.
In C Division play, Woodman’s Pub defeated first-place King Sub 13-4, K & H Motorsports defeated Marietta 12-5 and CCRP edged Friends C 9-8.
A DIVISION
Dark Horse/Hairy Tony’s 15, St. Charles Hotel A 11: In addition to Keefer’s efforts, Scott Potter went 3-for-4 with two RBIs with Andrew Pierce and Tom George also adding 3-for-4 bats for Dark Horse/Hairy Tony’s (9-6). Kevin Wellings chipped in with a 2-for-4 effort that included a triple, home run and two RBIs with Chris Tullo and Jason Bennison going 2-for-3.
Grand Rental Station 10, Red Jug Pub 4: Frank Tibke was the winning pitcher and he helped his own cause by going 3-for-3 with a double as Grand Rental Station improved to 15-1. Chad Lansing and Ryan Stevens each added 2-for-3 with one double each while Jason Hogan went 2-for-2 with two doubles.
Chris Terwilliger led Red Jug Pub (5-9) by going 2-for-3.
Red Dragon 18, Central City Bar & Grill 2: The only reason this game wasn’t close was a 14-run scoring barrage Red Dragon (7-9) unleashed in the top of the third inning to break a 1-1 tie. Brett Wright went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Dragonmen. Chris Poli was also 3-for-4 with a triple, home run, four runs scored and four RBIs while Dick Arnold went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for the winners.
Bill Francis had a double to account for one of three hits recorded by Central City (9-6).

C DIVISION

Woodman’s Pub 13, King Sub 4: Joe Delee was 4-for-4 with a triple to lead Woodman’s Pub (10-8) to victory. Glen Sutton (home run), Mike Cullip (home run) and Dave Bloodgood each added 3-for-4 efforts to the winning offensive attack.
Tony Bates and Adam O’Brien each went 3-for-3 with a double for King Sub (13-4).
K & H Motorsports 12, Marietta 5: Terry Ostrander was 4-for-4 with a double as K & H (11-7) broke a 5-5 tie in the late innings and pulled away. Jay Seamans added a 3-for-3 effort with a double, Mike Myers was 3-for-4 with two doubles and Gary Talbot was 2-for-3 with a double to aid the winners.
Bob  Gallor went 3-for-3 for Marietta (1-16) with Joe Vosburgh going 2-for-3.
CCRP 9, Friends C 8: D. Morris was 4-for-4 while Nick Hoffman and Rob Benson added 3-for-4 efforts as CCRP (10-10) held on for a narrow one-run victory. David Kreick added a key two-out double with bases loaded, driving in all three runners in the top of the fifth inning.
Ryan Eddy, Scott Knight and Leon Burk swung 4-for-4 bats for Friends C (10-9).
