Cutia’s Pizza slices up pair of foes
Cutia’s Pizza scored a pair of Jim Partigianoni Coed League softball wins Saturday, 12-8 over ABL Lumber and 14-1 over Woodman’s Pub in a five-inning mercy rule game.
Cutia’s Pizza 12, ABL Lumber 8: Cutia’s trailed 5-3 after three innings and 7-6 after five before taking the lead for good with four runs in the top of the sixth. Jeremy Devereese went 3-for-3 with a double and a home run for the winners, while Dave Hubbard went 3-for-4 with a double and Tim Dovi (triple, homer), Bob Craig and Eric Hubbard all went 2-for-3.
Allison Barber went 3-for-4 with a double for ABL Lumber, which got 2-for-3 games from Rick Barber, Lindsay Richards and J. Robinson and a homer from Jordan Kashuba.
Cutia’s Pizza 14, Woodman’s Pub 1 (5 inn.): Trailing 1-0 after the top of the first, Cutia’s scored three runs in the bottom of the inning, seven more in the second and never looked back. Winning pitcher Frank Tibke (triple, homer), Eric Hubbard (triple, homer) and Dave Hubbard (double, triple) all went 3-for-3 to lead the 16-hit Cutia’s attack, while Jeremy Devereese (triple, homer) and Tim Dovi (two doubles) both went 2-for-2 and Tiffany Hubbard went 2-for-3 with a triple and homer.
Eric Rohwedder (double) and Joey Marks both went 1-for-2 for Woodman’s, which managed just four hits in the game off Tibke.
Sautter Sweeps in Dryden
DRYDEN — Sautter Construction captured a pair of softball victories during the Dryden Coed Saturday Slowpitch League, nipping G.L. Mullen’s Body Shop 8-7 before dousing the Xtinguishers 8-2.
G.L. Mullen’s Body Shop came back to thump Pall Trinity 23-11, while in one of the early games the Xtinguishers were one run better than Pall Trinity in extra innings with no final score reported.
Sautter Construction 8, Mullen’s Body Shop 7: J.R. Marks was the winning pitcher in holding off Mullen’s, who pulled to within a run with a two-out, two-run homer by Jerry Goodenough in the seventh inning before a pop-up ended the comeback bid.
Sautter Construction 8, Xtinguishers 2: Marks and his mates only allowed runs in the first and last frames while Eric McGowen and Ella Rivers both went 3-for-3 at the plate for the winners. Nick Maine homered and tripled to proved some extra punch to the Sautter offense.
Mullen’s Body Shop 23, Pall Trinity 11: This game was tied at 11-11 when Mullen’s erupted for a dozen runs in the top of the seventh inning. Shawn Murphy had a home run and triple for Mullen’s, while Scott Murphy also went deep to go along with a double. Pat Capps and Bob Slocum also doubled, with Goodenough legging out a triple.
Tim Harding and Dennis Prentice smacked home runs for Pall Trinity, with each going 4-for-4. The speedy Amanda O’Dell (4x4) and Phillips (5x5) had perfect plate performances for Mullen’s.
All four teams are scheduled to play doubleheaders this upcoming Saturday at Dryden High School. Games start at 10 a.m.
