Brix, Dark Horse to clash in finals

After tying for the regular-season title, Brix and Dark Horse will meet for the championship of the Cortland Men’s Fastpitch League after winning their respective semifinal series in different styles Monday night.
Second-seeded Brix, after losing the first game of its best-of-three softball series with Central City Bar & Grill 10-6 last Wednesday, won twice on Monday — 12-9 and 13-9 — to advance.
Top-seeded Dark Horse, meanwhile, completed a two-game sweep of Auburn-Syracuse with a 15-2 five-inning mercy rule win. The two finalists had actually tied for first place with 14-2 records, Dark Horse getting the nod on runs scored in head-to-head matchups.
The first game of the best-of-three championship series will take place Wednesday at Meldrim Field starting at 7 p.m. The second game will take place this Monday starting at 6:30 p.m. at Meldrim, with the third game, if necessary, immediately following.
