Slowpitch softball: K&B prevails in playoff opener

K&B Electric took an early lead and never looked back Tuesday night en route to a 17-5 win over Red Jug Pub in the opener of their Cortland Men’s Slowpitch League A Division playoff series. It was the only contest for which a report was received.
Dave McGowan (home run, five RBIs) and Jeremy Devereese (three RBIs) both went 4-for-4 for K&B, which scored four runs in the first inning and also had a five-run fourth and a six-run sixth. Justin Hogan (two doubles, four RBIs) and winning pitcher Jamie Evans (two RBIs) both went 3-for-4 for the winners.
Chris Twigg (double), Dan Twigg and Mitch Bush all went 3-for-4 for Red Jug Pub.
Game two of the best-of-three series takes place Thursday on Meldrim Field starting on 6 p.m.
