Meldrim Paint has ‘extra’ fun

Judson Wilkins singled in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday evening as Meldrim Paint scored an 11-10 Cortland Men’s Slow Pitch League National Division softball win over CCRP.
In the American Division, Grand Rental Station/Gable Inn was a 9-2 winner over Red Jug Pub to finish 23-1, good for the regular-season championship, while runner-up Central City Bar & Grill won twice, 20-4 over Stone Lounge/Willcox Tire in a five-inning mercy rule contest and 10-6 over Beer Goggles.
Meldrim Paint 11, CCRP 10: Kyle Rogers went 3-for-5 with a double for the winners, while Chris Carpenter and M. Renniff both went 2-for-4 and A. Funk tripled. Bob McAnulty went 3-for-4 for CCRP, while Jeff Zornow (triple and double), Billy Grant (double) and A.J. Nason all went 2-for-4 for CCRP.
Grand Rental Station/Gable Inn 9, Red Jug Pub 2: Casey Crandall’s 4-for-4 night with a triple and double led the winners, with Dirt DeGraw going 3-for-3 and Brian Bowman 3-for-4. No one had more than one hit for Red Jug Pub.
Central City Bar & Grill 20, Stone Lounge/Willcox Tire 4, 5 inn.: Central City collected 19 hits in the shortened contest, Dennis Hopkins going 4-for-4 with a double to lead the way. Bill Francis went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, while Lord Case went 2-for-3 and T.J. Griffin 2-for-4 with a home run and a triple.
Central City Bar & Grill 10, Beer Goggles 6: Hopkins again led the way for Central City, going 3-for-3 with three doubles and two RBIs. Griffin went 2-for-3 and Bill Francis 2-for-4, while Jesse Brady drove in two runs. James Burns had a 3-for-4 night for Beer Goggles, with Jeremy Hutchings going 2-for-3 and Johnson (two RBIs), Hogse (double) and Mark Harrington all going 2-for-4.
— More make-ups have been slated for Thursday, with the playoffs scheduled to get underway next Tuesday.
On Thursday at Dexter Park it’s Red Jug Pub vs. Gator’s at 6 p.m., Red Dragon vs. Hooley’s at 7:15 and Hooley’s vs. Beer Goggles at 8:30. Three games slated for Meldrim Field have Friends vs. NAPA at 6 p.m., King Sub vs. Friends at 7:15) and Hess vs. Tavern at 8:30. On the Beaudry II diamond, CCRP takes on Ivan’s at 6:30 p.m.
