Men's Slow Pitch: Bow-Jen/Post 489, King Sub champs

Waylon DeGraw doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday night as regular-season winner Bow-Jen/Post 489 beat Gator’s Tavern 12-11 for the championship of the Cortland Men’s Slowpitch League’s B Division.
Regular-season runner-up King Sub walloped first-place Outdoor Solutions 14-2 to claim the C Division crown.
Both of Friday’s games were the third and deciding contests in best-of-three series.
Bow-Jen Post 489 12, Gator’s Tavern 11: DeGraw’s double plated Codi Clayton with the game-winner in the third one-run contest between the two teams in as many games. Clayton went 3-for-5 with two doubles for Bow-Jen/Post 489, which trailed 7-2 after two and a half innings before rallying, the key frame a six-run fifth. John Pensyl also went 3-for-5 for the winners, while Tony Keegan was 2-for-3 and doubled twice. Billy Epp went 3-for-4 with two doubles and Bear Marshall was 2-for-3 for Gator’s, which finished third during the regular season.
King Sub 14, Outdoor Solutions 2: King Sub scored four runs in the first, keyed by Chuck Wilbur’s triple and a home run by Greg Carrier, and never looked back. Andy Warholic went 4-for-4 with an RBI and finished the series having gone 10-for-12 with a double, triple and seven RBIs, while Carrier (homer, three RBIs), Wilbur (triple, two RBIs) and Brad Sturdevant (two RBIs) all went 3-for-4. Garrett Stage went 2-for-3 with a triple for Outdoor Solutions.
