BRIGGS — Arla L. Briggs, 97, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bible Baptist Church, 15 West Road, Cortland. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, immediately following. Friends and relatives may call at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 North Main St., Homer, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
HOPKINS — Clifford J. “Jamie” Hopkins Jr., 42, of Virgil died Sept. 24, 2009. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave. Friends are invited to call one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer.
LAGO — Norbert A. Lago, 83, of Cortland died Sept. 25, 2009. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
SHULTIS — Marshall John Shultis, 75, of Tuscon, Ariz. and formerly of Homer, N.Y., died Sept. 17, 2009 in Arizona. There are no services planned. Burial will be in the East Homer, N.Y. Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

BISHOP — Carl W. Bishop, Jr., 72, of Lansing, N.Y., died Sept. 24, 2009, in his home. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the New Testament Church of Peruville, located at the corner of Routes 38 and 34B in Groton. A memorial service will take place at New Testament Church of Peruville at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
STILES — Edward Hart Stiles died Sept. 24, 2009, at University Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Friends may call from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church on Cayuga Street in Homer with a memorial and remembrance service immediately following.

AMES — Shirley J. Ames, 74, of 51 Port Watson St., Cortland, N.Y., died Sept. 23, 2009, with her loving family by her side after a lengthy battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 North Main St., Homer.

Interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery, South Otselic at 4 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral Wednesday.
