UTICA — Homer Central’s Katie Mercer isn’t done playing tennis yet this fall.
Mercer won two of three matches Monday in the Section 3 Individual tournament at the Utica Parkway Courts to finish among the top four singles players in Division 2. Molly Burhans and Madison Baker beat Laura Manns and Hannah Snell from Watertown 6-2, 6-1 before losing to the Jamesville-DeWitt duo of Natalie Alweis and Katie Tsivanis to finish the season at 6-2. Marlena and Catarina Kruman wound up a 6-3 campaign, outlasting Camden’s Kaidyn Hawkes and LeRyiah Buckingham 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (11-9) before losing to top-seeded Jungyun Kim and Maya Pollock from J-D 6-0, 6-0.
