Dragon coach part of Wrestling Clinic
SUNY Cortland coach Brad Bruhn will be among the speakers when the New York State Public High School Association conducts its 4th annual Wrestling Coaches Clinic on Thursday, Oct. 30, at Friedman Wrestling Center at Cornell University in Ithaca.
The clinic is co-sponsored by Dollamur Sport Surfaces and Worldwide Sport Supply.
The clinic will consist of several workshops, such as short offense on feet, traditional and parallel legs, cradles and bar arms, new rules and procedures, setups and finishes using leg attacks, top lifts and turns, and strength and conditioning methods for young wrestlers.
Numerous exceptional speakers are scheduled to present workshops at the clinic, including Jim Beichner, head wrestling coach at University at Buffalo and three-time place winner in New York StaTe Championships.
Also appearing are Paul E. Diekel, former state Champion and three-time NCAA D-1 All American; Rob Koll, head coach at Cornell University and four-time NYS Coach of the Year; Damion Hahn, two-time NCAA Champion and four-time NCAA D-1 All American; Cory Cooperman, assistant coach at Cornell University and three-time All American; and Mitch Clark, Finger Lakes wrestling club coach and NCAA D-1 Champion.
Registration for the one-day clinic will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday morning in the Friedman Wrestling Center, and the workshops will begin at 8:30 a.m. Thursday’s lectures will be preceded by an informal Coaches Cracker Barrel Question and Answer session at the Holiday Inn Ithaca at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
