Pee Wee’s post pair of shutouts

The Cortland County Youth Hockey Association’s Pee Wee Travel team shut out a pair of opponents over the weekend. The locals downed the visiting Elmira Jackals Pee Wees 3-0 on Saturday, P.J. Shager with five saves in goal for the shutout. Matthew Pelowski had two goals and Ben Gravel a goal and an assist for the winners.
Shager made 12 saves for another shutout on Sunday in an 8-0 win over host Geneva. Mike Turck led the offense with three goals and two assists, while Lars Roos had two goals and an assist and Matthew Pelowski, Jake Prunier and Jonathon Frederick a goal and an assist apiece.
The Groton City Animal Hospital-Homer Logging-Borg Warner team won both of its games over the weekend, 4-0 over visiting Elmira on Saturday and 3-1 at Salmon River on Sunday.
Goalie Gage Eldred made 17 saves for the shutout on Saturday while Mike Gibbs scored twice, Joshua Button had a goal and an assist and Mike May one goal. May, Bailey Wood and Brian Ordway had one goal each against Salmon River, goalie Ryan Gabriel stopping 24 shots.
Trevor Jubran scored five goals and assisted on two others Sunday as Cortland beat host Elmira 13-2. Sammy Robbins had two goals and two assists for the winners, while Louis Nardis and Joshua Cargen each had two goals and an assist, with Kyle Howser and Zack Malyszek notching a goal and an assist apiece. Goalie Brandon Ludwig stopped 20 shots.
Cortland hosted Binghamton later on Sunday and lost 7-2 as Malyszek and Adam Jubran had a goal apiece and Ludwig stopped 20 shots.
