PeeWees post pair of victories
The Homer Logging/Rick and Rick Towing Pee Wee Travel youth hockey team scored a pair of victories over the weekend, 5-2 over visiting Center State on Saturday and 3-1 over host Fulton on Sunday.
Brian Ordway had two goals and an assist against Center State, while Shea Swartout had a goal and an assist and Danny Turck and Joel Potter scored once each. Goalie Gage Eldred made 35 saves. Mike Gibbs, Sean Sullivan and Ordway had one goal each and Eldred stopped 33 shots.
Cory Broyles made 15 saves, including turning back a penalty shot, and Zach Randall turned aside two shots while Jordan Zehr scored both goals as Cortland beat visiting Fulton 2-0 on Saturday. Randall made nine saves on Sunday in a 6-0 win at Skaneateles in which Zehr scored three goals, Brandon Wood had a goal and an assist and Curtis Howland and Mike Lavere scored once each.
Cole Compagni had the only goal while goalies Devin Baylor and Ryan Gabriel totaled 42 saves in a 9-1 loss to visiting Ithaca. On Sunday, Gabriel and Baylor combined for a shutout with five saves in a 6-0 win over visiting Geneva. Jackson Brazo, Alex Sanford, Matt Gombas, Emily Krebs, Cooper Swartout and Mike Turck had one goal each.
Cortland rolled past visiting Geneva 1-0 on Saturday, goalie P.J. Shager not having to make any saves. Trevor Jubran had three goals and an assist to lead the offense, while Logan Griffin had a goal and two assists. Jonathan Frederick, Josh Cargen and Zavien Rosato had a goal and an assist apiece, while Jake Prunier, Adam Jubran and Nick Gravel scored once each.
Sammy Robbins scored the only goal on Sunday as Cortland fell to host Elmira 8-1. Zack Wilhoit and P.J. Shager combined for 23 saves in the visitors’ nets.
