Homer’s Riley a standout in loss

McKenna Riley had 36 assists and 14 digs as Homer Central returned to the court Thursday night. But try as they would, the Trojans remain winless in OHSL Liberty Division action as visiting Cazenovia won the grueling five-game match 25-10, 9-25, 25-20, 28-30, 25-14.
Homer slips to 0-3 in division action an 2-4 overall after yet another tough loss while Cazenovia improves to 4-1, 6-1 overall.
Katie Wick added 23 kills and 16 digs to the Homer attack while Ashley Cavellier chipped in with 13 digs and nine kills. The Trojans also got support from Katie Camp , Cayla Hartnett and Alexis Johnston, who had 11 digs each. Molly Nulty contributed five kills, four digs and two service aces with Rachel Perry adding four digs, four kills and two aces.
Alissa Easterly paced Cazenovia with 11 kills, 18 assists and seven aces. Megan Robinson added 16 assists and two aces while Leah McAleer recorded 13 kills, three aces and two blocks. Lizzy Reed (five blocks) and Lindsey Nourse each recorded seven kills.
Homer Central will return to action Monday when the Trojans travel to Hannibal. JV action will kick in at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity match to follow.
HOMER JVs were swept 25-9, 25-17 by Cazenovia in the preliminary match Thursday night. The Junior Trojans fall to 3-3 overall.
Nichole Sanford led Homer with five assists. Alyssa Morgan and Danielle Murray each contributed four digs while Katelyn Buchanan had three digs. Skylar Diamond helped out with two digs.
