Wintry weather a crimp to CHS

Tuesday’s snowy weather in the Syracuse area put a crimp in the schedule of some Cortland High sports teams.
The Purple Tiger varsity and JV boys’ basketball teams were to visit Fowler in non-league action in Syracuse, those contests postponed. Also called off were the varsity and JV volleyball teams’ matches at Chittenango.
No make-up dates had been established for either sport as of press time.
Still on were the CHS girls’ basketball teams’ games against visiting Homer Central today, the JV game set to start at 5:30 p.m., and today’s 7:30 p.m. hockey game between Cortland-Homer and visiting Auburn at the J.M. McDonald Sports Complex.
— The Cortland-Homer hockey squad has new date for a trip to face Ontario Bay that was postponed last week, the Golden Eagles to now play this coming Sunday in a 4:30 p.m. start at Haldane Rink in Pulaski.
— Cincinnatus girls are slated to play host to Central Couties League basketball leader Madison this evening, the varsity contest slated to tip-off at 7 p.m. Also in the CCL, McGraw boys have a non-league match-up with Blessed Virgin Mary Academy on Cazenovia College’s court.
— Marathon and Groton boys’ basketball squads have IAC dates this evening. Marathon boys host Moravia, while Groton welcomes Tioga for a crosscover contest. Marathon girls are slated to visit Moravia.
— SUNY Cortland’s basketball twin bill at Geneseo has been postponed this evening due to the deaths of two student-athletes in Geneseo. The Red Dragons return to the court Saturday afternoon at Oswego.
