TC3 stickers beaten

TROY — The Tompkins Cortland Community College lacrosse team led host Hudson Valley CC 5-4 at halftime Wednesday, but couldn’t hold and went down to defeat by a final score of 9-5.
The Panthers fall to 0-2, with both losses to teams showing up in the national rankings. HVCC, which received votes in the national poll this week after beating then-ninth-ranked Broome CC last week, improves to 2-2.
TC3 had a strong opening half, getting two goals from Michael Manuel , a goal and two assists from Robert Earnshaw and two assists from Dryden’s Austin O’Brien. Bryan Weinert and Joseph Peer each scored a goal and Homer High graduate Stephen Park collected an assist as the Panthers enjoyed the advantage at the break.
The Vikings tied it with a goal in the third quarter and scored four unanswered in the fourth quarter to pull out the win. Panther goalie Corey Spisak had 15 saves in the loss.
TC3 travels to Niagara County CC Saturday before returning home on Wednesday to take on Herkimer County CC.
