Alliance Bank base runner Vinnie Bellardini turns the corner at second base on a base hit in the bottom of the first inning at Beaudry Park.  Alliance lost to Homer Withiam, 12-9.

Homer Withiam is alone atop the Cortland County Babe Ruth League North Division baseball standings after just two games following a 12-9 victory over host Cortland Alliance Bank Thursday night at Beaudry Park.
Cortland Moose and TTC both also improved to 2-0 and share the Southern Division lead after Thursday wins. Moose beat host Fabius 4-2 and Dryden TTC rolled past visiting Homer Rosato 17-1.
In other games Cortland Eagles took a 24-10 slugfest from visiting McGraw and Homer Austin was a 12-7 winner over host Tully.
Homer Withiam 12, Cortland Alliance Bank 9: The winners trailed 8-1 after three innings before scoring two runs in the fourth and exploding for eight more in the fifth, keyed by a three-run double from winning pitcher Hugh Kiernan, to take control. The winners managed only two hits in the contest off Alliance pitching, which included Y. Brian Hughes, and totaled 10 strikeouts. Brandon Babcock went 2-for-3 with a triple for Alliance.
Cortland Moose 4, Fabius 2: Cory Broyles and reliever Brandon Watkins, who got the win, combined to toss a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts. Broyles fanned five while Watkins whiffed 10 batters.
Broyles also had two doubles in the contest — the winners’ only hits in the game — and drove in the game-winning run in the two-run seventh for Moose. Casey Blanck, A.J. Malone and Lucas Cognetti combined to strike out nine while allowing just those two hits.
Cortland Moose 4, Fabius 2: A trio of TTC hurlers, including starter and winner Mike Hattery, Tyler Cowen and Pat Perkins, combined on a one-hitter while Alex Freyburger (two doubles) and Isaac Vanderweert led the offense, both going 3-for-4. Tyler McMullen’s triple was the only Rosato hit.
Cortland Eagles 24, McGraw 10: Ryan Flatt went 3-for-4 with two doubles for Eagles, while Antonio Bustamante went 3-for-5 and Noah Bishop was 2-for-2 with five RBIs. Winning pitcher Josh Cook and Logan Adamczyk had two hits each. McGraw was led by Chris Torres, who went 3-for-3, while Justin Morgan, Cody Brown and Nick Cowen all had 2-for-3 games.
Homer Austin 12, Tully 7: Luke Biondi went 2-for-2 with an RBI and three stolen bases for Austin, which also got 2-for-3 performances from Thomas Austin (two RBIs, three stolen bases) and Ethan Forester (RBI) while winning pitcher Tyler Simonetta had a double. Ben Smith doubled twice and Brian Bartelson once for Tully.
