Big Bush hits save King Sub

Mitch Bush was 3-for-4, but his two biggest hits for King Sub came in the final two innings.
Bush hit the first of six consecutive King Sub singles with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning that led to four runs to tie Tuesday night’s softball game against Meldrim Paint. Bush then drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the eighth as King Sub posted a 10-9 come-from-behind Cortland Men’s Slowpitch C Division victory.
In other C Division clashes, Stone Lounge downed Outdoor Solutions 8-6 and Woody’s C blasted Brix Puberia 24-6.
In A-B crossover contests, Red Dragon posted a 9-4 win over The Tavern, GSG Vincent/St. Charles Hotel beat Bow Jen Archery/Legion Post 489 11-4 and Beer Goggles downed Gator’s Tavern 26-7.
C DIVISION
King Sub 10, Meldrim Paint 9, 8 inns: Tony Bates, Brad Sturdevant and Cliff Quick also swung 3-for-4 bats for King Sub. Bates had three doubles and three RBIs.
Jason Schlenker, Mike Myers, Jamison Lawton and Jo. Schlenker each rapped out two hits for Meldrim Paint.
Stone Lounge 8, Outdoor Solutions 6: Toby Walker helped his own pitching cause by going 4-for-4 with a triple as Stone Lounge handed Outdoor Solutions its first loss of the season. Billy Grant and David Kreick (double) chipped in with 2-for-3 efforts.
Barber paced Outdoor Solutions as he went 3-for-4 with two doubles.
Woody’s C 24, Brix Puberia 6: Dustin DiIorio paced a 25-hit Woody’s attack by going 5-for-5 with a triple. Don Jenny (double), Brandon Frost (triple), and Charlie Hibson (double, 6 RBIs) each added 4-for-5 efforts while Mitch Gleason was 3-for-3 with a triple and five RBIs.
Jeremy Baker, Joel Rivera (double) and Dennis Russell each went 2-for-3 for Brix. Jamie Sutton was 2-for-4.
A-B CROSSOVERS
Red Dragon 9, The Tavern 4: Red Dragon got some breathing room by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for an 8-3 advantage. Dick Arnold and Steve Wright were 3-for-4 for The Dragon. Dan Edwards went 2-for-3 while Ed Kelly, Dave Lemon and Darren Wright were each 2-for-4.
N. Peter was 3-for-3 for The Tavern. Matt Bush, N. Baker and Kenn Pease each added 2-for-3 efforts.
GSG Vincent/St. Charles 11, Bow Jen/Post 489 4: Eric McLaughlin was 3-for-4 as GS Vincent/St. Charles scored at least one run in five of its six innings at the plate. Andrew Pierce added a 2-for-3 effort with one home run and Jason Reynolds was 2-for-3 with a double.
John Pensyl and John Tinker each went 2-for-3 for Bow Jen/Post 489.
Beer Goggles 26, Gator’s Tavern 7: Beer Goggles led 7-1 after one inning, but never really pulled away until the team scored 16 runs over the fifth and sixth innings. Bronco McCall and Ryan Pennello each went 4-for-5 with a double and four RBIs. Dan Kile was also 4-for-5 with four RBIs with Matt Rutkowski going 3-for-5 with two double, a home run and five RBIs for the winners.
Brian Taylor was 2-for-2 for Gator’s. Going 2-for-3 were Dave Hubbard, Andy Ayers, Eric Hubbard and Hollenbeck.
