Unbeaten tripped by Hairy Tony’s/Paddy’s
Pat Casselbury went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a triple and three RBIs to lead Hairy Tony’s/ Paddy’s Pub to a 9-7 Men’s Over-35 Slow Pitch League softball win over previously undefeated J.T. Fence/Friends Sunday.
In another contest, Gator’s Tavern remained perfect at 3-0 with a 12-8 victory over Red Dragon.
Hairy Tony’s/Paddy’s Pub 9, J.T. Fence/Friends 7: Mike DuBrava was 3-for-3 as Hairy Tony’s/ Paddy’s Pub (2-1) used a six-run burst in the bottom of the third inning to build an 8-1 lead.
J.T./Fence/Friends (2-1) rallied late with four runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to close the deficit to 9-7, but could not complete the comeback bid. Chuck Chawgo, Jr. (two doubles), Tom Cullip (triple) and Lambert (triple) each had three hits to fuel the rally.
Gator’s Tavern 12, Red Dragon 8: Gator’s was led by the three-hit efforts of Kevin Wellings, John Fasaro, Dick Arnold, Andrew Pierce and Steve Horner.
Jim Hogan, Mike Greco and Mike Hammond delivered three hits each for Red Dragon (1-3).
Bob’s Riverside Women
Grab Share of 1st Place
With a make-up game softball victory on Sunday, Bob’s Riverside earned a share of first place in the D Division of the Cortland Women’s Slow Pitch League.
In a five-inning mercy rule performance at Starr Road, Bob’s Riverside defeated Easy Street 27-4. The winners are now division co-leaders, sharing 6-1 records with King Sub/Groton Fitness.
A 12-run outburst in the bottom of the third inning did the most damage. Wendy Lockwood drove in five runs with a home run and a 3-for-4 bat on the day, while Beck Cornell finished with four RBIs while going 4-for-5 with two doubles.
Sue Apley (3 RBIs) and Nicole Heider (2 RBIS) were both 3-for-4, while Val Plumley had a pair of hits and Annette Balik drove in three runs. Jody Ward (2x3) and Brandi Wright (2x2) led Easy Street (3-4), though Bob’s Riverside thwarted rallies by turning two double plays.
Builder’s Best Captures
Erickson Coed Victory
Jerry Goodenough was 4-for-4 with two double and a home run as Builder’s Best grabbed a 4-0 lead in the first inning and kept the final margin in posting a 14-10 win over Ford Team in Duke Erickson Coed Slow Pitch Softball League action Saturday.
In another contest, Farm Team downed Cayuga Press 28-6.
Builder’s Best 14, Ford Team 10: Pat Capps added a 2-for-2 bat for Builder’s Best with a double and triple while Don Scutt was also 2-for-2.
Pete Whitmore had a two-run homer and three RBIs in total for Ford Team while Brian Ford was 3-for-4. Anna Whitmore and Jesse Dovi each went 2-for-3 for Ford Team.
Farm Team 28, Cayuga Press 6: Sueann Stahlman went 5-for-5 with four doubles, one triple, five runs scored and eight RBIs to lead Farm Team. Jeremy Devereese added a 5-for-5 effort as well with a double, five runs scored and three RBIs.
