Grand Rental in grand rally

Facing a three-run deficit in the bottom of the fifth inning, Grand Rental Station needed a softball spark against a Red Dragon squad determined to pull off a major upset.
The A Division first-place team found it as one of its newest members, Mark Kinner, delivered a bases-loaded, grand-slam home run to put Grand Rental in the lead for good and spark an eight-run inning that turned into a 25-23 Cortland Men’s Slowpitch League victory Thursday.
In another A Division contest, Central City rolled to a 21-7 win over Woody’s A.
In C Division contests, Outdoor Solutions posted an 18-3 mercy-rule victory over Stone Lounge, Meldrim Paint trimmed King Sub 10-8 and and Woody’s C edged Brix Puberia 12-11.
Grand Rental 25, Red Dragon 23: Red Dragon scored eight runs in the top of the first inning and maintained its advantage. After scoring twice in the top of the fifth, the Dragons held an 18-15 cushion before Kinner’s big blow.and the huge inning led to a five-run advantage for the division leaders. Grand Rental’s lead shrunk to 23-21 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Red Dragon never got closer than that two-run deficit
Kinner went 5-for-5 in the game with seven RBIs. Dan Harris added is own 5-for-5 bat with three doubles with Seth Montgomery going 5-for-6. Cody Potter (4-for-5) an Brian Taylor (3-for-5, HR) also contributed to the win.
Dan Edwards was 3-for-4 for Red Dragon. Chris Poli (3B) and Dicky Arnold (4 runs scored) chipped in for the Dragons while Dave Lemon was 3-for-4 with four runs scored.
Central City 21, Woody’s A 7: Dennis Hopkins was 5-for-5 with a double, four RBIs and four runs scored as Central City broke a 7-7 tie with six runs in the bottom of the third inning and never trailed again.
Pat Casselberry (HR) and Greg Langtry (2B) helped the winning cause by going 3-for-5 with three RBIs each. Tom Avery (2B, 4 RBIs) and Bill Francis (2B, 3B, 2 RBIs) were 2-for-4 for the winners.
Dave Pitts led Woody’s by going 4-for-5 with three runs scored. Dave Seamans and Jim Grant added 3-for-5 efforts.
Outdoor Solutions 18, Stone Lounge 3: Chris Maxfield (2B) and Matt Robinson each went 3-for-3 as Outdoor Solutions broke open a close game with six runs in the top of the fourth inning and nine more runs in the fifth to invoke the mercy-rule win. Garrett Stage added a double, home run and four RBIs to help the team wrapped up the regular season crown.
Chris Beebe hit a home run for Stone Lounge.
Meldrim Paint 1, King Sub 8: Meldrim Pain scored six runs in the top of the first inning and led 10-4 before King Sub rallied in the bottom of the final two innings to make this a close game.
Chris Carpenter was 4-for-4 for the Painters while Kyle Rogers went 3-for 4 .
Miguel Maldonado had two doubles and a triple for King Sub. Greg Carrier also belted two doubles.
Woody’s C 12, Brix Puberia 11: Woody’s found itself in an early 5-2 hole after one inning, but hung tough and sealed the win with three runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Charlie Hibson was 4-for-4 with two doubles to lead the winning offense. Dustin DiIorio chipped in by going 3-for-4 with a double. Both batters drove in two runs. Don Jenney and Brandon Frost each went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBIs for the winners.
Andrew Smith was a perfect 5-for-5 for Brix. Smith had two doubles while Jeremy Baker and Wakula went 3-for-4 with Justin Baker and Cody Peak each adding 3-for-5 efforts.
