Private burial will be at the Virgil Cemetery.

ADAMS — Jo A. Backus Adams of Cortland, N.Y., died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Cortland Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. At Jo’s request, services are private and there will be no calling hours. She will be laid to rest in her hometown of Gouverneur.
ARMENTROUT — Richard S. Armentrout, 85, of Sun City Center, Fla., passed away on Aug. 3, 2010.

HORKY — John J. Horky, 87, of Triphammer Terrace, Ithaca, N.Y., died July 31, 2010, at Hospicare. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams St., Groton. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
PILGRIM — William Stanley (Halcrow) Pilgrim of Seminole, Fla., Port Byron, N.Y., and Thendara, died Aug. 1, 2010, in Seminole, Fla. A memorial service will be held at the Port Byron First United Methodist Church, 8510 South St., Port Byron at 7 p.m. Aug. 13. Friends and family are invited to share memories and celebrate his life.
STEVENS — Henry A. Stevens, 75, of Deltona, Fla., died July 25, 2010, at his home. Graveside service will be at The Atwater Cemetery, Route 41, Homer, at 11 a.m. Saturday for family and friends, followed by a memorial gathering at the Preble Fire Station.

HARRINGTON — Tom “Shoey” Harrington, 83, formerly of Cortland, N.Y., died July 23, 2010, in Florida. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home, 69 N. Main St., Cortland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery in Geneva at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
MANN — Linda Marie Twomey Mann, 62, of Spring Street, McGraw, N.Y., died Aug. 2, 2010, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center.
