Study Hall is the C Division king

It was a series full of momentum swings, with the visiting team scoring all three victories.
And when it was over, Study Hall had claimed the championship of the C Division with a 22-19 triumph over King Sub Friday night at Meldrim Field to close out the Cortland Men’s Slowpitch League season.
After Study Hall won the first game easily Tuesday, King Sub rolled to the victory Thursday to set up the winner-take-all final game in the best-of-three series. Study Hall plated three runs in the top of the first inning Friday and never trailed, but still had to fight most of the night. With nine runs in the second, Study Hall enjoyed a 12-2 advantage and appeared to be on a roll.
King Sub fought back, however, scoring eight of the next 11 runs to pull within 15-10 through four innings. Study Hall enjoyed a 17-11 cushion entering the seventh inning and needed some of the five runs it scored to hold on. King Sub made one more comeback bid in the bottom of the seventh inning by plating eight runs, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Steve Young (double, triple), Dan Kile and Mike Russell all went 4-for-5 to lead the Study Hall offense. Henry Hernandez was 3-for-3 with a double and triple for the winners, while Danny Marks (2 triples) and Victor Quaile (home run) both went 3-for-4.
Tony Bates paced the King Sub attack as he went 4-for-5.
